Now That's a Ginormous Cake!

With cakes going more ginormous and extreme than ever before, ever wonder what the World's Largest Cake looks like? My awesome husband Rick found a postcard image of the World's Largest Cake (in 1962) on a blog devoted to vintage Seattle. In 1962, the World's Largest Birthday Cake was 25,000 pounds! It was made for the Seattle World's Fair and stood 23 feet tall. The ingredients list, posted above, includes the 10,500 pounds of flour needed for the cake!

If 25,000 pounds seems like a large cake, you may be interested in knowing that on May 15, 2005, the record was broken again with a postively Ginormous cake made in (where else) Las Vegas and was a whopping 130,000 pounds and was registered in the Guinness Book of World Records! It was made from 30,000 half sheet cakes and 40,000 pounds of frosting. I'm practically sick to my stomach just thinking about that, but what a sight to see it in person!
